Client Work Samples

A selection of design & illustration projects for clients & collaborators.

I have a background in Architecture, decades of focus on physical media & printmaking, and loads of experience creating both digital & tangible deliverables for clients & in-house projects.

My work carries a unique combination of traditional media & digital capabilities grounded in a deep appreciation of the woods, natural sciences and counterculture art at large from the second half of the 20th century.

Black Spruce Beer / / Packaging & Merch

I've been lucky to work with this team (and now friends) up in Alaska twice. We did a full collaboration designing the recipe and then creating packaging artwork & a launch party full of merch for Candy Cap Crush––a Candy Cap Mushroom + Rhubarb Cream Ale that was out of this world. Later Carey brought me in to do packaging artwork and merch for Velvet Antler, a Baltic Porter that he felt needed some psych rock artwork to tie the room together.

Telluride Mushroom Festival / / Festival Artwork & Merch

I'm in my fourth year of working with the team at TMF to create their entire collection of festival marketing materials & merchandise. It's been a dream as a mushroom lover and dedicated member of the global mycology community! Here's a selection of the poster artwork.

Shroomski Mag / / Full Spread Collab

In late 2022 I did a full spread in Shroomski as a sort of marketing-collaboration-article combination. The work eventually landed in this art piece / mock advertisement layout that I really enjoyed, and feel like it encapsulates the non-brand aesthetic of Sporelust!.

Fruiting Bodies / / Branding Variant & Merch

Love this brand & the founders, and in 2023 was asked to hop in for a limited rework of the logo and a big piece for merchandise. I almost immediately knew what I wanted my concept was––curvaceous morel mushroom people cradling holy shrumps. Ken & Roger were fully supportive of wherever my mind wanted to go and we all love how it turned out. They've crushed using it on apparel and it may be my favorite commission piece so far.

Corvallis Bicycle Collective / / Rad Merch

I love the Corvallis Bike Collective and wanted to support their rad project by donating some artwork for their merch. In 2022 I made this drawing of a demented beaver riding a mountain bike through the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range.

Hamilton's Mushrooms / / Branding Variant + Merch

Another mushroom company that I love and was pumped to get to work with. My projects with mushroom friends & their brands are always the best because they know my work, they ostensibly like it and they give me pretty wide open creative control. This one got weird, but I think it checked all of Hamilton's boxes!

Notes on my work:

I am at heart a pen & ink illustrator. I love traditional media and taught myself screen printing 15 years ago as a way to reproduce my drawings while maintaining artifacts of process.

My love for art that has been made to exist in the physical world––while still being easily adapted to digital deliverables––stands out in a profession where so much art only exists in a digital space. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I can't wrap my brain around content that only exists as code. There is something about being able to touch the finished product, and recognizable aesthetic in work made knowing a piece needs to fit the production process it will eventually endure.

I accept that understanding the digital space and digital art creation is a necessary tool in this world, but I'm here for the finished products on paper, metal, wood or cloth.
